Collegiate Church of San Juan Bautista

Attached to the Revillagigedo palace. Today, a venue for musical performances. Public access to the palace at the end. Ornament based on columns, split pediment, niches… Baroque. Calatrava Cross supported by Angels. Structured in a three-storey tower, Chapel, with the category of collegiate church, supported on the old tower of the contemporary palace of Revillagigedo or the Marquis of San Esteban del Mar. Work completed in 1723, by Canon Luis Martínez de Jove. It was Pedro Ruiz de Somonte who was in charge of completing it, possibly following the criteria of the Avilés master Francisco Menéndez Camina. It is made up of a three-storey tower and an irregular projecting side body. The decorative components (padding at the corners of the tower and on the flanks of the lateral body, split pediment, columns, niches, etc.) are of Baroque affiliation. The Baroque side façade has two Ionic columns, located on the flanks of the entrance arch with a keystone displaying the Cross of Calatrava between tenant angels, which support a split pediment; above it, there is a denticular impost and then there is an oculus, from which the family coat of arms hangs; immediately below it there is a niche with scallops. Two small windows and fluted jambs flank the pediment.
