Tourism products
Visita Gijón/Xixón markets different gastronomic products to the end public, designed and integrated in collaboration with companies in the city and with the aim of highlighting the identity of local gastronomy and local produce.
Visita Gijón/Xixón is responsible for marketing and selling these products online through www.reservagijon.es or in person at tourist information offices. Customers purchase a voucher that they must present in order to consume the product. Once the voucher has been redeemed, participating establishments invoice it directly to Visita Gijón/Xixón at a price and under conditions agreed in advance.
The general conditions for joining the products are:
- The company or service must be located in the municipality of Gijón/Xixón.
- Be a legally established company for the provision of the marketed services and comply, under its sole responsibility, with the current provisions on labour, social security, and occupational health and safety.
- Tourism companies must be registered in the register of tourism activity companies of the Principality of Asturias.
- Comply with the specific conditions established in the collaboration agreement.
The products offered by Visita Gijón/Xixón in which local companies can participate are:
Gijón Goloso
This is a gastronomic route through different confectionery shops and ice cream parlours in Gijón/Xixón that allows visitors to try different specialities.
Participating companies choose one of their products, in tasting format, to link it to the product and undertake to provide it free of charge to the customer carrying the voucher.
Companies such as confectionery shops, bakeries or ice cream parlours that offer a local and emblematic product may join.
Gijón Gourmet
Gijón Gourmet is a gastronomic product designed to highlight the identity and richness of local cuisine through restaurants that are members of Visita Gijón Profesional or have one of the following distinctions: ISO 9001, Q for Tourism Quality, Mesas de Asturias, Sidrerías de Asturias, Michelin Star, Repsol Sun, and restaurants and cider houses recommended in reference guides.
The product has four categories:
- Gijón Gourmet with star: restaurants awarded a star in the Michelin guide.
- Gijón Gourmet tasting: restaurants whose cuisine is of a high standard and where a multi-course menu is the best way to discover their cooking.
- Gijón Gourmet product: restaurants for enjoying seasonal products: fish, rice dishes and, ultimately, high-quality raw materials.
- Gijón Gourmet contemporary: restaurants with contemporary aesthetics and cuisine, respecting the ingredients while adding technique, attractive presentations and a creative touch.
Participating restaurants undertake to manage bookings directly with people who have purchased the voucher through Visita Gijón/Xixón.
Cider route
This is a voucher consisting of a bottle of selected or PDO cider, plus a tasting portion in emblematic cider houses in the city.
People who purchase the voucher go to the participating establishments, which must offer the agreed bottle of cider and tasting portion, redeeming the voucher carried by the customer.
This product is aimed at cider houses.
