Traveling with pets

At Gijón/Xixón we like pets and we like that our visitors can get to know the city with their pets.

General rules

The so-called “potentially dangerous breeds” (pit bull, Rottweiler, Dogo Argentino, Fila, Tosa, Akita, American Staffordshire and Staffordshire bull) and interracial crosses, as well as those with a history of aggression, those trained for defense/attack or with vigorous morphology must comply with the specific regulations regarding license, insurance, muzzle and leash and other applicable regulations.

Animal access on the beaches of Gijón/Xixón is allowed on San Lorenzo Beach between stairs 2-8, from October 1 to April 30, and on El Rinconín Beach, throughout the year. The bathing season (from 06/15 to 09/15) imposes restrictions on the presence of animals on the beaches of Asturias (local legislation).

No limitations affect guide or guide dogs, which by law have guaranteed access to all places and public transport. Due to their mission and training, in their presence, it is recommended not to give them food, distract them or bring another animal closer to them.

Check with each establishment about the possibility of access.

Access with small domestic animals is permitted on urban buses.EMTUSA. They must go in a closed receptacle.

Spaces for pets

  • Do not release dogs classified as potentially dangerous and use a muzzle in cases regulated in the current Ordinance (Regulated in Article 6-Sections 1 and 5, Ordinance).
  • Monitor your animals, avoiding inconvenience to third parties.
  • Assume responsibility in case of damage.
  • Collect excrement in closed bags and deposit them in the trash cans provided for this purpose (Article 8 Ordinance).
