Visita Gijón/Xixón Profesional Career Awards
The Visita Gijón/Xixón Profesional Career Awards are an initiative through which Visita Gijón/Xixón aims to recognise the effort and dedication of people, companies and organisations, both public and private, in favour of a more competitive, responsible and sustainable local tourism sector.
These awards, granted by the Tourism Board, seek to encourage business excellence and the implementation of actions committed to innovation and sustainability among tourism companies and services in Gijón/Xixón, with the aim of strengthening the quality and competitiveness of the destination.
The categories of the ‘Career Awards’ are as follows:
Professional Career
A category aimed at individuals who have shown their commitment to the city’s tourism industry and have actively participated in co-governance with the Public Administration to achieve the sector’s growth objectives.
Committed Career
A category aimed at individuals or legal entities that show ongoing concern and commitment to the sustainability of our environment and the impact that tourism generates in our society, while also understanding the importance of tourism as something that belongs to everyone and must be inclusive.
Innovative Career
A category aimed at individuals or legal entities that have demonstrated innovation in the local sector through good practices focused on the design and commercialisation of new tourism products and their contribution to experiential tourism in the destination, the search for new mechanisms and working tools to improve business efficiency, and leading initiatives that serve as an example for other tourism companies.
Academic Career
A category aimed at students of the University Master’s Degree in Tourism Management and Planning at the University of Oviedo, with the aim of encouraging Master’s theses related to tourism sustainability in the Gijón/Xixón destination.
