Carbon footprint calculator
- What is the carbon footprint?
It is understood as a carbon footprint “the total greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted directly or indirectly by an individual, organization, event or product“. Therefore, the carbon footprint of an organization or company would measure the totality of GHGs emitted by direct or indirect effect from the development of the activity of said organization.
- What is the carbon footprint calculator for?
The calculation or analysis of the carbon footprint provides data that can be used as a global environmental indicator of the activity carried out by the tourism company. In this way we will establish an improvement plan to contribute to the reduction of the company’s emissions in order to contribute to their reduction and also contribute to economic savings in the company.
- What differences are there between the different scopes?
When referring to the carbon footprint of an organization and the emission sources that are analyzed in its calculation, we use the term Scope, classifying it into scope 1, 2 and 3. Scope 3 emissions are other indirect emissions, which would not be taken into account when making this calculation.
- Scope 1: direct GHG emissions, that is, they are emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the organization. For example, emissions from combustion in boilers, ovens, vehicles, etc.,
- Scope 2: Indirect GHG emissions are emissions resulting from the organization's activities, but that occur in sources that are owned or controlled by another organization, such as those associated with electricity generation.
- Where can we perform the calculation?

- Where can we consult certified compensation projects?
On the Ministry’s website we can consult the registered projects: https://www.miteco.gob.es/es/cambio-climatico/temas/registro-huella/organizaciones-proyectos.html
Through the Zero CO2 platform: zeroco2.org/compensation-projects
