Parque Isabel la Católica

The Isabel la Católica Park is located on a previously swampy terrain. In the 1930s, the need to drain the marshes for health reasons and to take advantage of their filling, by dumping slag and demolition materials, to build a park was raised. The total sanitation was not completed until the 60s. The park is currently included within the Cultural Heritage of Asturias as a historical garden of Asturias and is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest. 65 different plant species have been catalogued, with more than 1200 specimens scattered throughout the garden.
