The church of San Pedro, built between 1945 and 1955 by the architects Francisco and Federico Somolinos, occupies the place of the 15th-century temple that functioned as the city’s parish church until the end of the 19th century. The current church is inspired by the Asturian pre-Romanesque temples, from which it takes the perpendicularly superimposed vaults, the slender buttresses, the raised transept and decorative elements such as the latticework, the rope of the columns and the trifora windows.
