The headquarters of the City Council of Gijón/Xixón.
In 1858, Andrés Coello designed the new Town Hall and the arcaded square that would link the historic center with the new urban areas.
In 1864 Coello’s project was modified by Luis Céspedes and Lucas María Palacios, introducing a decorative style that breaks the classicist rigor in favor of a freer historicist interpretation.
