Tower of Memory

It casts an elongated shadow, which is part of itself. Its dimensions contrast with the surroundings: a 16-metre-high prism made of iron and steel, on which a thousand small geometric reliefs of stainless steel and various shapes are attached. Tower like an interior lighthouse or like a chimney, sister of the many that populated the industrial landscape and that the century was responsible for dynamiting. The reliefs on its surface inadvertently draw signs and faces, maps of unexplored worlds, messages that the gods of memory try to prevent us from forgetting. A tower that is also a symbol of Gijón’s industrialisation and a reminder of the old factory that operated for so long on the land where the park now stands.
